Can anyone organise a Smallest Things Picnic?

Yes! Anyone with an interest in our charity and improving the lives of families with premature babies is welcome to get involved. You could host an event for family and friends at home or in the park, or ask your workplace to have a bake sale or coffee morning.

What do I need to do?

Simply find somewhere to have your picnic, decide on the date (it doesn’t have to be 23-25 June) and time and send out invitations.

We’ve made it super-easy for you by creating a poster you can add your details to, print and display. You’ll need to hit File > Make a copy and then move to your local drive:

Inviting friends via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or LinkedIn? We’ve created some editable social images too. (Remember to hit File > Make a copy then save locally first):

Time for a picnic? My favourite time! Today is the perfect day for a picnic with friends or family, what fun it will be.

We’d love to hear what you’re doing for your picnic! Share your plans and photos on social media using #SmallestThingsPicnic. If you’re on Instagram, don’t forget to tag @thesmallestthingscharity

Do I have to have a picnic that weekend?

No, you can host an event and fundraise for The Smallest Things at any time of the year! Email us with what you’re up to and we’ll support you: picnic@thesmallestthings.org. Maybe you’d prefer to organise a cake sale, BBQ, teddy bears’ picnic, preloved clothes’ sale or sponsored activity – anything goes!

How much money do I need to raise?

There’s no minimum and we are grateful of anything you can collect, big or small, as every penny helps us support premature babies and their families. You can collect donations on the day in a tin or ask your guests to donate directly via JustGiving. We’ve even created a downloadable sticker for you to print and pop on a container for collections:

How do I send you the money?

It’s simple to set up your own event page on JustGiving and link it to The Smallest Things so any donations come directly to us.

  1. Visit our JustGiving page and click ‘Fundraise for us’ on the top right.

  2. Log into JustGiving or set up an account.

  3. Choose ‘Doing your own thing’.

  4. Complete your details and personalise your page.

  5. Share, share, share! Use social media, email and old-fashioned word of mouth to tell everyone about your event.

  6. Generate a QR code to print and stick up at your event for cashless donations.
