Any money you raise for The Smallest Things is put directly into activity that furthers our mission. Here are some of the things we do:
Provide ‘Premmie Proud’ stickers to hospitals across the UK so premature babies can be easily identified by health professionals when they leave hospital
Campaign for improved rights, support and benefits for families with premature babies such as our #NotMatLeave campaign to improve maternity leave
Manage the #EmployerwithHeart Charter to encourage employers to voluntarily offer additional maternity leave for families with premature babies
Organise events across the UK to raise awareness of premature birth
Meet with key bodies to influence change such as the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Premature and Sick Babies
Provide a range of communication platforms for families of premature babies to share their stories and support each other to raise awareness of premature birth
Work with partners to support and contribute to research around how best to support the families affected by premature birth, such as Best Practice Guidance for Mental Health in Maternity and Neonatal Settings
Ensure families with premature babies have their voice heard across all sectors through the use of regular surveys, events and focus groups
Support the delivery of Neonatal Mental Health Awareness Week
Work with partners to explore developing training, information and advice to support healthcare professionals and the wider community in supporting families post premature birth
