World Prematurity Month is a time for charities, health professionals, families and organisations around the world to come together to raise awareness of the 15 million babies born premature each year.
World Prematurity Day
World Prematurity Day is celebrated each year on 17 November. Throughout the month and on this day, The Smallest Things will highlight the realities of neonatal intensive care and use the opportunity to shine a light on an otherwise hidden world and a journey that lasts long after you bring your baby home from hospital.
Expectant parents allow themselves to dream and imagine.. the first hold, the first baby grown, the first feed…. but for parents of premature babies all plans and dreams are shattered as the trauma of neonatal intensive care kicks in.
Leaving neonatal care, full of conflicting emotions, you think that your NICU time is done, but there are often new challenges to face.
We know that nothing can prepare parents for the premature birth of a baby, but we can be there to support you along the way.
