Thank you to the Health Visitors

Celebrating Health Visitors in Health Visiting Week 26-30 Sept

Thank you to the Health Visitors, the ones who hold our hands;

Leading us through the early days, when finally we are home.

No more wires or monitors, the neonatal hum.

Home can seems so quiet when the nurses have all gone.

Thank you to the Health Visitors, the ones who understand;

We’re happy yes, we’re finally home – but our journey’s just begun.

NICU days stay with us, worries, fear and pride.

Our baby’s still so very small, although they’re 6 months old.

Thank you to the Health Visitors, who listen to us talk;

who offer words of wisdom, encouragement and support.

Corrected age on growth charts, development takes time;

And mum?

She’s still recovering, you know NICU days are long.

Thank you to the Health Visitors, who catch us as we fall.

Families thrown from the roller-coaster ride of NICU and SCBU.

Thank you to the Health Visitors, there to hold our hands;

Supporting families everyday – worth their weight in gold.
